Take care of your roof in the winter
Dallas might be known for its hot summers and mild winters, but don't let that lullaby you into neglecting your roof when the temperture dips. What to Do When You Think Your Roof is Leaking
A leaking roof is a homeowner's nightmare, a ticking time bomb of potential damage and rising repair costs.
Straight answers before you call.
The short version of what we tell every homeowner in Dallas–Fort Worth. The full list is on the FAQ page.
Book a consultation →01 Does homeowners insurance cover hail damage to my roof?
In most cases, yes. Standard Texas homeowners policies cover sudden damage from hail and wind. You file the claim, an adjuster inspects the roof, and the insurer pays the approved amount minus your deductible. IHS documents the damage, meets the adjuster on site and submits any supplement so nothing is missed.
02 How much does a new roof cost in Dallas–Fort Worth?
It depends on the size and pitch of the roof, the material, and how many layers need to come off. A typical single-family roof replacement in DFW runs from the high four figures to the mid five figures for architectural shingles, with metal and stone-coated steel above that. IHS prices every roof in writing after an on-site inspection, and financing is available.
03 Should I repair or replace my roof?
Repair when the damage is isolated and the roof is less than about fifteen years old. Replace when leaks keep coming back, shingles are curling or losing granules across whole slopes, or storm damage is widespread enough for insurance to cover a new roof. An inspection tells you which one you are looking at.
04 What should I do if my roof is leaking right now?
Move belongings out from under the drip, catch the water, and if it is safe, poke a small hole in a bulging ceiling to let it drain. Then call IHS. We will stop the leak first and talk about repair or replacement after.
05 Which areas does IHS General Contracting serve?
